Specifically, they voted on the "Motion to Concur in the Amendment of the House to the Amendment of the Senate to the Text of H.R. 6, with an Amendment" HR 6, Renewable Fuels, Consumer Protection, and Energy Efficiency Act of 2007 title reads:
An Act to move the United States toward greater energy independence and security, to increase the production of clean renewable fuels, to protect consumers, to increase the efficiency of products, buildings, and vehicles, to promote research on and deploy greenhouse gas capture and storage options, and to improve the energy performance of the Federal Government, and for other purposes.The bill increases the Renewable Fuels Standard to 36 billion gallons of ethanol and other biofuels by 2022. Under increased CAFE standards, automakers will be required to increase the average fuel economy of cars and trucks to 35 miles per gallon by 2020.
The bill needs to be approved by the House of Representatives before signing by the president.
